Bees Shut Down Keys View

Bees are the culprits for shutting down a popular Joshua Tree National Park lookout June 24 through July 2.

This spectacular view sits at 5,185 feet, looking out to the Coachella Valley from Palm Springs to the Salton Sea.

However, with the rise in the number of buzzing insects in the area, has caused concern for visitors’ safety, prompting the shut down. Officials say with the reduced visitation to Keys View will help reduce water sources and force the bees to relocate.

In May, a man was stung to death in Salton City. The man has not been identified.
