Salton Sea - 22 Pounds of Meth Found in Car

A couple tried to smuggle 22 pounds of methamphetamine through the Highway 86 checkpoint near Salton Sea on Wednesday morning. The 33-year-old man and 31-year-old woman hid the drug in 22 cylindrical packages in their 2008 gray Ford Fusion’s rocker panels. The drug-sniffing dogs alerted the agents who searched the car and found the drug, which is worth more than $220,000. The couple and drugs were turned over to the DEA.
