Have you heard? The Borrego Days Parade will be back, marching down Palm Canyon once again after a three-year hiatus.

The Parade theme this year will be, “Celebrating Our Local Veterans” Honor. Respect. Freedom.

The parade committee will be working closely with the Borrego Springs American Legion Post 853 to honor the area’s oldest local veterans along with all veterans.

“As a long time addition to Borrego Days we are thrilled to have a committee that will make it happen,” Chamber of Commerce and Welcome Center Executive Director, Françoise Rhodes, said. “Our goal is for this to be a fun hometown event and I encourage everyone to get involved, either by volunteering, participating, sponsoring or cheering participants on as they make their way down the parade route on Palm Canyon.”

Parade Committee Chair, Konki Jarvis said, “Whether you are a local, part-timer, full-timer, weekender (like myself), snowbird or a visitor that would like to get involved, come join us for the first meeting and if that is not possible at this time, just text, email, or leave a phone message and I’ll get back to you.”

They are also looking for volunteers to help become a part of the Parade Committee.

“Without a committee established, we cannot move forward,” Jarvis said.

The first meeting will be held at The Resource Center at The Mall, on Thursday, April 11, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

“Hope to see you there. Your presence and willingness to help is much appreciated,” Jarvis said.
