As the largest and oldest philanthropic institution in the region, the Borrego Valley Endowment Fund (BVEF) recognizes it is uniquely positioned to support the strategic development of the Borrego Valley for decades to come.

Focusing our attention on the region’s greatest challenges and using our resources in a targeted, disciplined manner enables us to realize our vision of Borrego Springs as a vibrant, healthy sustainable desert community that serves as the gateway to California’s largest state park.

While the BVEF remains dedicated to its original mission of promoting health, it also supports the programs of organizations in the Borrego Valley who are dedicated to addressing the critical educational, cultural, economic and social development needs of our community.

We are delighted to announce the recipients of our Community Foundation Grant awards for 2023. We are proud to support the enduring community-wide benefits that each of these initiatives provide and to help enable these organizations whose dedication and hard work help to make Borrego Springs such a great place to live, work and play in.

BVEF 2023 Community Foundation Grants:

Anza-Borrego Foundation – $1,500 for Translation of interpretive materials into Spanish.

BASIC (Basic Education for Students in Need) – $28,500 for Summer Learning Academy

Borrego Village Association – $10,000 for Emergency First Aid/CPR and Wilderness First Responder training programs

Borrego Art Institute – $20,000 for Gardening skills and nutrition education for grades 1 through 5

Borrego Springs High School Basketball Program – $6,593 – this grant “matches” the program’s Go Fund Me fundraising initiative so they can reach their goal of raising $10,000 to purchase basketball and athletic equipment for the girls’ and boys’ sports teams
