While learning to drive, a teenager in Borrego Springs made a simple mistake, causing damage to a taxi.

At around 5:25 p.m. on Oct. 27, as the teen was making a turn, she panicked and quickly pressed on the gas pedal instead of the brake, crashing into the parked taxi in front of the Mirage Gas Station.

"She was very sorry and shook up, and we decided to pardon the accident and let the taxi rest in peace," owner Fred Sibu, said.

The taxi will be moved to the back of the store and garage. Sibu said he is on the lookout for a new one, but it is still unsure if he will be placing it in the front, as well.

The names of the driver and passenger have not been released, and none were injured in the accident.
