A Hearty Breakfast Kicks Off Borrego Days

The 2019 Borrego Days Parade & Festival began like it always does, with a great breakfast behind Coldwell-Banker Friday Oct. 18, sponsored by the Rotary Club, represented at the entrance by Lorry Seagrim and Donna Nourse.
Fritatas and fried potatoes cooked up by Cathy Paredes, Director of Food Services for the Borrego Springs Unified School District, along with rolls, fruit, juice and coffee, ensured that not a single person of the hundred or so who chowed down walked away hungry.
This is in large part due to the efforts of BSUSD School-Community Liaison Martha Deichler and her squad of S'Interact Club (formerly InterAct) volunteers, now comprised of both boys and girls because the high school is too small to have two service clubs. S'Interact is happy to be the recipients of a little over $400.
Deichler and other early birds like American Legion Post 853 Commander Rick Dobbins and Borrego Water District Board Member Diane Johnson were soon back to work preparing for the next day's 54th Annual Borrego Days Desert Festival and Parade.
