Supervisor Ryan Kelley joins worship, fellowship and a community interview at Rostros y Corazón.

Imperial County District 4 Supervisor Ryan Kelley visited Rostros y Corazón in Salton City, joining members of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church and local residents for a worship service, shared meal and community conversation.

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Borrego Springs holds regular Eucharist services at Rostros y Corazón on the first and third Wednesdays of each month. The outreach ministry brings worship, fellowship and spiritual support to the Salton City community.

Rostros y Corazón, meaning "Faces and Heart," is a community organization founded by Graciela Ramos that provides a welcoming space for residents to connect, participate in activities and find support. The organization works to strengthen community relationships and create opportunities for families and individuals in the Salton Sea region.

During his visit, Kelley joined attendees for a meal following the service and spent time speaking with community members.

He also interviewed Ramos as part of his ongoing social media series highlighting the people and communities of Imperial County.  The interview series features three questions: Who are you? What do you love about Imperial Valley? And what are your hopes for its future?

During the interview, Ramos shared her hopes for the future of Salton City and the surrounding communities. Above all, she emphasized the health and well-being of all residents in this underserved region, where families face numerous challenges and access to essential resources and services can be limited. Her message reflected the mission of Rostros y Corazón: strengthening the community through compassion, connection and support.

Through these conversations, Kelley gives residents an opportunity to share their personal stories, perspectives and hopes for the communities they call home.

The visit also highlighted the continuing partnership between St. Barnabas and Rostros y Corazón. Through its regular services and community fellowship, the church's outreach ministry has established an ongoing presence in Salton City.

The gathering brought together residents, community leaders and church members for an occasion centered on worship, conversation and the connections that strengthen the community.
