From the Chamber: Did You Know?

The last Chamber Mixer of the season has come and gone. Our May Fiesta was held at La Casa Del Zorro with over 70 attendees who enjoy mingling, feasting, hearing from members, meeting the new permanent doctor at DAP and winning great prizes. A big thank you to La Casa Del Zorro and their staff along with prize sponsors ABDNHA, Borrego Outfitters, BSCC, Carlee’s, La Casa Del Zorro, Meta Skin Studio, and Red Ocotillo/Coyote Steakhouse.

Let’s welcome a new Chamber Member, the Palm Springs Air Museum. If you’ve never been it’s a real treat, they even have one of the few Stealth Bombers for museum use across the country. You’ll find their information in the Chamber’s website directory.

It has come to my attention that the recent focus on Borrego Days has been solely on the parade when in fact Borrego Days is made up of many committees that will also be in need of volunteers. We currently have our Volunteer chair - Joy McBride, Beer Garden Security – Corina Garcia, Chamber information booth - Judy Lewis, Beer Garden Bar – Morgan Larson and confirmation shortly on vendor check-in. Once again Joy McBride will be handling volunteer signups for all departments, which will begin in a month or so as we know many of you are enjoying summer activities. Vendor and sponsor apps will be ready soon. Please remember that Borrego Days Desert Festival is a full weekend of live entertainment, kids zone, adult beverage garden, vendors, food, family fun and a parade!

Many of our new residents and businesses do not understand what a“Dark Sky Community” is. Instead of making the conversation harsh and uncomfortable, let’s try to educate. For the next few eblasts we’ll have info about how to help keep the skies dark in Borrego Springs, feel free to share.
