On Sept. 19, Mary K. (Kathy) Kirchner entered Heaven after enduring more than ten years with Alzheimer’s Disease.

Born in Philadelphia, Sept. 24, 1938 and passed away in Palm Desert, CA Sept. 19, 2015 just five days short of her 77th birthday.

She married her husband, Doug, in 1959 and graduated from University of Minnesota with a teaching degree. After teaching 3rd graders for a year, she began to raise a family of three boys.

Throughout her life she beautifully walked the talk of a believer in Jesus as the son of God. She was involved with Bible Study Fellowship for twenty years, a member of Ridgewood Church in Minnetonka, MN and The Christian Center in Borrego Springs, CA.

Her favorite day was Sunday with church in the morning followed by serving lunch to her family of seventeen. She was an avid golfer and tennis player, taking lots of lessons because she, “Wanted to get better.” In fact, that was her way of life; wanting to be a better wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Since 1999, she and Doug wintered at the Roadrunner Club as snowbirds from Minnesota. In 2011 they became full time residents because of the wonderful care Kathy was receiving in Borrego. The last three ½ years she was lovingly cared for at Mountain View Cottages in Borrego Springs, CA.

Ms. Kirchner is survived by her husband, Doug of 56 years, their three sons and their wives; Dave (Kim), Dan (Linda), Jim (Kathy) and nine grandkids, Ben, Brady, Barry, Casey, Whitney, Jasmine, Kayla, Kendal and Klaire.

A memorial Service will be held at Ridgewood Church in Minnetonka, MN Saturday Oct. 3 at 2:30 p.m.

Donations in her name can be made to Alzheimer’s Association and/or Ridgewood Church.
