Soroptimist Hosts a Wine Tasting Fundraiser

The Soroptimist International of Borrego Springs hosted its third annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser at the Steele/Burnand Desert Research Center on December 14, drawing strong community support for a cause that uplifts local women and girls.
The event offered an afternoon of camaraderie, premium wines, gourmet appetizers, and exciting drawings for gift baskets and a silent auction – all in the name of empowerment and education.
Event Highlights
Guests enjoyed a curated selection of wines by acclaimed Napa-based wine broker Kimberly Jones, including standout offerings like Operation Dragoon and No Brainer. Known for her dedication to quality and value, Jones shared insights into her selections, creating a lively and engaging experience for wine enthusiasts.
Guests enjoyed sliders, quiche, rice noodle encrusted shrimp, chicken skewers, brownies, crackers, cheese, and more. Appetizers were provided by Carlee's, as usual, using the freshest ingredients for a delicious selection.
Pianist Steve T Hunter entertained guests with holiday songs as well as classic piano pieces.
The Miss Borrego Springs Pageant winners were present, assisting with the silent auction and raffle.

Guests eagerly participated in the gift basket drawing raffles, featuring wine, food, experiences, products, gift certificates, and more, adding an extra layer of excitement and fundraising success to the afternoon. Event co-chairs Anne Wermers and Gina Moran expressed gratitude to cash sponsors as well as all the businesses that donated items for the silent auction and baskets.
Supporting Local Women and Girls
Proceeds from the event will fund scholarships, career mentorship, and programs like Live Your Dream, which helps women with dependents further their education. Since 1962, Soroptimist International of Borrego Springs has provided lasting support for women and girls in the community.
