BSCCA Welcomes A New Season

The Borrego Springs Community Concert Association formed in 1975. Our First Concert, was in 1976, at the Multi-purpose Room at the High School. In 2005, we moved to the renovated Performing Arts Center.
The first concerts were held in the High School Multi-Purpose Room, fashioned into a concert hall with a portable stage, bleachers, and folding chairs. It was a common sight to see concert goers "dressed to the nines" arriving with cushions under their arms.
After the first two seasons, the Association added an additional "Donor's Concert," made possible by generous contributors. Memorable concerts during those early years included the William Hall Chorale, duo-pianists Stecher and Horowitz (two concert grand pianos on the portable stage!) the Warsaw Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra, the American Boy Choir, the Russian State Chorus, and the Harry James Orchestra.
Beginning in 2005, the Association moved its concerts to the Performing Arts Center, where we are currently enjoying comfortable seating and much improved lighting and sound. With continuing support from generous donors in the community, we are confident that the Community Concert Association will continue to provide quality entertainment in Borrego Springs for many years to come.
We currently produce nine concerts each year, Five Public Performances, and Four Free Concerts for our School Children. The eclectic concert selections are performed by renowned musicians, to entertain, and educate our audience.

Borrego Springs is an Isolated Community, for most of the School Children, and some of our Adult audience, our programming is their only exposure to professional live performance.
We make our Concerts selections each Season, so that over time, many genres will be explored. This is especially important for the School Children. Over the course of 12 years, a broad sense of musical appreciation will be nurtured. We hope this will bring delight for the rest of their lives!
Many of the performers are from far off lands; providing exposure, for our community, to many cultures and traditions. The School performances are tailored to add cultural enrichment, the special narrative portions of the programs give the kids a firsthand introduction to people they otherwise would only read about in books!
The School and Public performances are part of the same Programming Season. Because the Performers are already here for the evening Performance, they do a special daytime presentation for the schools at reduced rate. The children do a "Field Trip" to the Performing Arts Center on school busses. Again exposing children to another wonderment!
Each Season we also do a special interactive school performance at the Elementary School. We include themes, which go along with "American Music", and history. This follows a Free Public Concert, the previous evening, for people in the valley.
We will announce the 2026 BSCCA "Golden Anniversary Festival Season," in March.
