A team led by Jim Pope, have been in Borrego for nearly two weeks, netting the Bighorn Sheep in their helicopter.

Alongside the State and Federal Fish and Wildlife, and the Anza-Borrego State Park, the team do important work to not only track the habits of the sheep, but to make sure they are healthy.

The helicopter drops down a special large net to hold down the sheep, as a person from the helicopter tags the sheep. In some cases, the sheep is taken back to their base for further medical investigation. Then once tagged, the helicopter returns to drop the sheep off where it was found.

Some are tagged as they are netted and left, which some are taken back to their base for further medical investigation, then tagged and returned to where they were found.

Jim Pope, leader of the group and pilot, told the Borrego Sun, "This is an important part of managing the sheep's health and following their habits with the tagging.'

This will be done every year.
