Borrego Springs Youth and Seniors Center (BSYSC) Board Director Betty Schubert has retired from her position. Our organization owes her a huge debt of gratitude, as do many other individuals and organizations she has served over her long and illustrious career.
As a BSYSC Director, Betty served with distinction as the Board Secretary. In addition, she was instrumental for years in organizing the largest single annual fundraiser for the nonprofit, the Annual RoadRunner Association Benefit Golf Tournament, held in February at the RoadRunner Golf Course in Borrego Springs.
Betty worked her entire career as a professional educator. She began as a classroom teacher, then moved into working as a school counselor.
From there she became a school psychologist, and ended her accomplished career as a public school district administrator.
As a volunteer over the years Betty graced many different organizations with her skills and experience. These included Goodwill Industries, Horizon Industries (low income housing and job development), Blue Mountain Community College Board of Trustees, Oregon State Community College Association, and the Walla Walla Community College Foundation.
Betty is looking forward to spending more time on the golf course and with her husband Bob at their beautiful home at the RoadRunner Club.
She will be sorely missed, but we are grateful for all of her efforts to promote and protect the most vulnerable citizens of our community, our children and our elders.
As an organization we can't thank her enough for all her hard work, so we'll have to settle for shouting out a great big "THANK YOU, Betty!"
