Senior Center Fundraiser Scheduled

Mark your calendar and get your wallet or checkbook ready for action, because the 31st RoadRunner Senior Center Benefit Golf Tournament and Raffle has been scheduled for Feb. 11.

The Senior Center provides over 5,000 meals to shut-ins within the Borrego community, and even with County support there is just never enough money to cover increasing costs associated with food and container expenses. And that’s where Borregans come to the rescue.

Last year, the RRC raised $22,140 for the Senior Center from 86 golfers and 124 attendees at the evening Silent Auction and Raffle, plus $6,400 from hole sponsors and $3,600 from additional donations.

The cost to play in the golf tourney is $25, plus $5 for two mulligans and $1 for one chip-in (paid at sign in). It’s a 9 a.m. shotgun start, but arrive at RRC Clubhouse card room by 8:30 a.m. Hot dogs, soft drinks, free coffee, Bailey’s, beer and water are available on the RRC 18-hole par-3 course during play - donations appreciated.

The RoadRunner Club is donating green fees, so all proceeds go to the Senior Center. There is no cost to attend the auction and raffle events that evening ($10 chance to win a big prize), where hors d’oeuvres are complimentary, but BYOB.
