High Wind Warning

The National Weather Service San Diego has issued an urgent weather message of periods of strong and gusty winds for late tonight Jan. 8 into Tuesday Jan. 9.
The wind advisory remains in effect from 6:00 a.m. Monday to 10:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Borrego Springs area is projected to reach sustained wind speeds of 25 to 35 mph developing Tuesday morning and continuing to Tuesday. Gusts of 50 mph or more strengthening to 65 mph.
A Pacific low pressure system will bring periods of strong gusty winds for late tonight into Tuesday evening. Strong gusty south to southeast winds will develop in advance of the cold front late, shifting to the west Tuesday morning. Winds will decrease Tuesday night.
The NWS San Diego advises everyone to take precautions for the strong winds. They advise to secure loose objects, be aware of downed tree branches and power lines when driving, and high profile vehicles should slow down and find an alternative routes if possible. All should avoid open flames or sparks, properly discard cigarettes and obey burn bans.
