The Pottery, Hand-Building Techniques

Learn to make pinch pots and coil pots; hand-build vessels using rollet out slabs. Clay, tools and glazes are provided. There will be three days of instruction, plus two “open studio” days. Your pieces will be bisque and glazed fired. This is a class for beginners. Instructors are Sue Boutwell and Jill Sullivan.

The class costs $120, and will be held Wednesday Jan. 17, Thursday Jan. 18, and Monday Jan. 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at The Pottery Studio.

The Pottery, Throwing on the Wheel for the Beginner

Experience the magic of transforming a lump of clay into a round vessel on the wheel. Participants will spend three days learning to center and pull up clay into a cylindrical form, the last step being the trimming of the bottom. Your pieces will be bisque fired and then the class will meet again for one day to apply glaze before the final firing. Clay, tools, glaze, two firings and two days of open studio are included.

Class size is limited to three people. Cost is $150. Classes will be held Tuesday Jan. 30, Wednesday Jan. 31, Thursday Feb. 1 and Thursday Feb. 8, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
