Circle of Art Unveiling Ceremony

Spectacular bright yellow flowers from the super bloom inspired Barbara Nickerson to pull out her water-colors, yupo paper and paint.
Chosen by the Circle of Art Board of Directors as the official 2018 poster, with all proceeds from sales going towards Basic Assistance to Students in the Community (BASIC) Scholarships and programs.
"She was chosen because her colors and representation of the desert are so unique and wonderful," Jacque Goodrich, BASIC Circle of Art volunteer and director of Circle of Art, said.
A small ceremony for the unveiling was held Dec. 14 at Palm Canyon Resort during the Art Guild weekly lunch meeting.
Nickerson, BAI director and water color artist, is honored by the award.
Having painted all her life, she prefers to use yupo paper due to it being synthetic, 144-pound and acid free.
"I can get vivid colors with a lot of texture, and the best part, is if you don't like it, you can start all over again," stated Nickerson.
All posters are signed by Nickerson and are available for purchase at the Anza-Borrego Desert Natural History Association and the Desert Park Store.
