Strong Wind Advisory for Borrego Springs

The National Weather Service San Diego has issued an urgent weather message of strong hazardous winds Wednesday Dec. 19.

The wind advisory remains in effect until 10:00 p.m. Dec. 19.

The areas affected are — Riverside County Mountains, San Diego County Mountains, the Coachella Valley, San Diego County Deserts, San Gorgonio Pass Near Banning — including the cities of Julian, Borrego Springs, and Desert Hot Springs.

The strong winds will cause areas of blowing dust and sand in desert areas. This will result in difficulty of visibility, so use caution when in these areas.

The winds are expected to reach gusts of about 50 mph, and isolated gusts to 60 mph.

It is advised to use extra caution when driving.
