ABDNHA Chili Night

Before going off to the festivities at Christmas Circle, many were enjoying homemade chili, delicious desserts, and friendly conversation at the Anza-Borrego Desert Natural History Association annual chili night Dec. 2.
"This annual membership appreciation event for the ABDNHA has been a regular event for a number of years, and is one of the most popular of the year," executive director of ABDNHA Betsy Knaak said.
It takes about 50 – 55 volunteers to help stage this event and transform the back patio beautifully, in what Knaak likes to call, the ABDNHA Bistro.
All the chili, desserts, spread of cookies, brownies, condiments of chips and cheese, were all made by the staff and volunteers.
There was also a raffle for guests with prizes donated by Carlee's, Borrego Springs Arches, and ABDNHA.
Most of the chili went quickly, with the spicy chili looking to be everyone's favorite, with many coming back for seconds, and thirds.
Children enjoyed the selection of desserts, from fudge chocolate brownies to oatmeal raisin cookies. They all had a smile on their faces.
Knaak hopes more people will donate their homemade chili for the next year's event.
She is glad everybody enjoyed the evening, and the vibes at the ABDNHA Bistro.
