Salton Sea Exhibit and Vintage Car Show
Last updated 8/4/2017 at 1:57pm
Saturday, October 21, the Salton Sea State Recreation Area is hosting an exhibit of never before seen photos as well as a vintage car show.
Both events will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Admission is free, but parking at the state park is $7. Do not forget your ticket, so you can be entered in a giveaway for a cool prize.
The California Department of Parks and Recreation recently uncovered archival photographs of the Salton Sea Recreation Area from its opening in 1955 to 1963. The state park has been cataloging the work to be exhibited and this will be the first time it will be viewed to the public.
The vintage car show, presented by the SEAthletes' SeaFest, will feature more than 20 cars from that era. SEAthletes is an organization set to inspire the next generation to nurture the sea through paddle sports.
The event will close with a great photo op to recreate the iconic, "Greetings from the Salton Sea" postcard, so guests are encouraged to dress in their best vintage resort clothing to be included in the photo. The photo will be made into a postcard and will be sold at the visitor center. Proceeds from the postcard will go to sponsor the SEAthletes' Kai Wai Club.
