Anza-Borrego Desert State Park to Host First Day Hike

The public are invited to start the New Year in a California State Park with a First Day Hike guided by park State Park interpreter II, Sally Theriault on the Bill Kenyon Overlook Trail at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

WHEN: January 1, 2017 beginning at 9:00 a.m.

WHERE: Meet at the Yaqui Pass Primitive Camp, on Highway S3 south of Borrego Springs.

WHY: California State Parks are joining the National First Day Hike’s program for the fifth year inviting visitors to enjoy guided hikes on New Year’s Day. All 50 states participate and more than 90,000 hikers took to the trails in 2016.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: This hike is an easy 2 mile hike to an overlook with an expansive view. Pets are not allowed on the

trail. Please bring water, snacks, sturdy hiking shoes or boots, and sun protection
