Anza-Borrego Desert State Park to Host Additional First Day Hike

The public is invited to start the New Year in a California State Park with a First Day Hike guided by Park Interpretive Specialist, Regina Reiter on the Panoramic Overlook Trail at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.

WHEN: January 1, 2017 beginning at 2:00 p.m.

WHERE: Meet at the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park Visitor Center, 200 Palm Canyon Dr.

WHY: California State Parks are joining the National First Day Hike’s program for the fifth year inviting visitors to enjoy guided hikes on New Year’s Day. All 50 states participate and more than 90,000 hikers took to the trails in 2016.


This is a moderate 2 mile hike, including steep slopes, to an overlook with a commanding view of Borrego Valley. Bring water, snacks, sturdy hiking shoes or boots, hiking pole (optional), and sun protection. Pets are not allowed on the trail.
