We celebrate happy medians

The Borrego Village Foundation (BVF) is delighted to acknowledge some hard work put in by two true blue Borregans, Carol Black and Robert Blum.

We thank them on our Foundation’s behalf, but even more on behalf of Borrego’s whole community. Blum (the hands-on President of the BVF Board) and Black recently spent many hours weeding and cleaning up the medians/islands that surround Christmas Circle, as well as working on others along Palm Canyon Drive.

Several groups – Carol, Julie Taylor, and other Desert Gardeners; the Roadrunner Tree Farm and Torres Desert Nursery – were instrumental in planting these medians a few years ago, and they spruce up the intersections beautifully. But they, of course, require maintenance, and that’s what Blum and Black stepped up to do. Hats off to them!

One of the purposes of BVF, as stated in its charter as a 501(c)3 non profit corporation, is to, “Enhance the quality of life for residents and visitors through the development of visually appealing parks, walkways, and other public works within Borrego Village and the greater Borrego Springs Community.” The BVF, through donations large and small, planted and is maintaining many of the trees along Palm Canyon Drive, and placed many of the benches there as well.

The Borrego Village Association initially got this project going and planted many of the first trees.

Please contact any of the following members of the BVF Board of Directors with comments or questions. President: Bob Blum; Treasurer: Larry Talbert; Secretary: Diane Hydoski; Directors: Susan Hancock, Betsy Knaak, Richard Orne, and Jim Wermers.
