A Call for Support - Borrego Days

Last updated 7/8/2016 at 12:13pm

Greetings Friends & Neighbors!

With the Borrego Days 2016 theme, Resort to Nature, we celebrate that which makes Borrego Springs exceptional - a nourishingly relaxing resort lifestyle in uncompromised abundance nestled in the heart of the nature of the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - and we formally launch the Borrego Springs community logo, Resort to Nature.

We hope you will be joining us for Borrego Days 2016. If you can't make it, please help us fund it anyway! With your help we will again produce this outstanding season kickoff event that celebrates the 2016-2017 California desert season opening in magical Borrego Springs. Thousands of new and returning visitors will join with us locals to watch the parade, listen to the music, explore the vendors, experience the food, drink the brews, tour the

car show, try out skills at the carnival games, and watch the utter delight of the young ones as they are physically challenged, energized, refreshed and kept occupied in the seemingly endless fun kids' zone - all the while absorbing the enchantment of the awakening California Desert Region's season in Borrego Springs.

Last year's 50th was spectacular. You, the sponsors and donors made that possible. We budgeted $100,000, and raised and spent $108,000. Thanks in no small part to a one-time and larger than expected county grant that made sure the 50th was extraordinary, and that the 2014 Borrego Days fundraising shortfall was covered as well (grant split nearly 50/50 between the two years). 14,000-15,000 people came to experience Borrego Days 2015. Many sojourned to Borrego for the first time because we tapped into something in them through the expanded Borrego Days marketing. New day-trippers joined us from throughout southern California with lots booking rooms or renting houses or RV spaces for overnight and extended stays. Whether or not they visited during Borrego Days or came when the party was over, our Borrego Days marketing reached and enticed folks near and far to come experience the magic of Borrego Springs. We delivered over 5 million Borrego Springs impressions via Borrego Days 2015 marketing on the web, in print, on the radio and on TV.

Borrego Days marketing by the Borrego Springs Chamber of Commerce & Visitors' Bureau remains the leader in and catalyst for consistently delivering powerful Borrego Springs messaging for our sponsors and community. This year's budget of $80,000 (no county funding this year as not the decennial), besides covering furniture, fixtures, equipment, signage, transportation, insurance, professionals and scholarships, includes the continuation of key marketing successes of last year that are targeted to deliver double last year's impressions.

Borrego Days Sponsorship Opportunities offer great brand visibility, and charitable donations are most warmly appreciated!

Please return the Sponsorship Pledge form and your contribution as soon as possible. We struggle mightily each year to fund Borrego Days. If you or someone you know would be so inclined, we could certainly put to good use an endowment fund. In partnership with our fiscal sponsor the Borrego Festivals Foundation, a 501(c)(3) public benefit charity, we are better able to enrich the community with the help of your Borrego Days contributions that are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Title, Presenting, Underwriting and Premier Sponsorships are customizable to meet your brand marketing or charitable giving requirements. Please contact Linda Haddock with your sponsorship, charitable giving, or in-kind donation inquiries; her direct contact information is below.

As always, volunteers are needed too and the jobs are fun! Contact Debbie Woollet, Borrego Days 2015-2016 Volunteer Coordinator at 760-533-7287 or email info@BorregoDays.com to sign up to volunteer and learn more about the jobs.

We thank you for the generosity of your money and your time, Borrego Days needs both!

With deepest gratitude and on behalf of our community,

Patrick Sampson
