CALL TO ARTISTS

The Ramona Art & Wine Festival Painted Wine Barrel Auction

We are excited to invite you to participate as Wine Barrel Artists for the 4th Annual Ramona Fine Art & Wine Festival 2016, Wine Barrel Auction, the event that celebrates San Diego artisans and the Ramona Valley American Viticulture Area. The Wine Barrel Auction’s goal is to raise money for the Ramona H.E.A.R.T. Mural Project, the mission of which is: To encourage economic vitality by increasing tourism, promoting community pride, and celebrating our rich cultural heritage through an outstanding outdoor visual arts program.

The Art & Wine Festival will be held on Saturday November 5, 2016 11:00 am – 5:00 pm at Begent Ranch at 18528 Highland Valley Road, Ramona CA 92065. This expansive property overlooks a spacious plateau in the heart of the Ramona Valley Grasslands and will allow us to grow this remarkable event for years to come.

The Wine Barrel Auction will take place throughout the day. Because this Festival strives to enhance art appreciation, you are invited to paint one of the wine barrels that will be part of the auction. It is our vision that the Festival will be a fine arts experience.

Eligibility: Open to all qualified artists. Preference will be given to artists residing in the Ramona & San Diego area. All artists must be able to demonstrate professional art experience. All submissions must be original art work.

Budget: Six artists will be chosen to paint six empty oak wine barrels, and will receive an honorarium of $100 & 1 ticket to the Festival. Artists are encouraged to visit the following web sites to learn about the acronym H.E.A.R.T. and the various topics suitable for depiction on the barrels, before submitting their application.

Project Description: The Ramona Art & Wine Festival and the Wine Barrel Auction are fund raisers for the Ramona H.E.A.R.T. Mural Project, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit. The mural program, and the painted wine barrels should reflect one or more of the elements of the H.E.A.R.T. acronym as a tool to economic stimulus and downtown revitalization. The acronym stands for: H = Historic buildings & Hiking trails, E = Equestrian industry, A = Arts, Antiques & Agriculture, R = Rural country vistas and drives, T = Tasting fine wines and cuisine.

Arrangements will be made for pick-up and delivery of barrels by our “Barrel Wranglers” to your home or studio by contacting Lynette Bredow at 760-803-1109 or at BarrelsRAWF@gmail.com.

The winning artists and their barrels will be featured in press releases, on numerous web sites, and at this year's Ramona Art & Wine Festival. A live auction for the barrels will take place at the Festival. Barrel artists will also receive 1 ticket to the event in addition to the $100 honorarium.
