San Diego's Balboa Park will illuminate with special blue lights on the evening of Saturday, April 2, as part of Autism Speaks' global Light It Up Blue campaign to honor World Autism Awareness Day and Autism Awareness Month. Balboa Park joins a list of more than 18,600 iconic landmarks, businesses, communities and homes in 142 countries on all seven continents that will shine a bright light on autism.

Additionally, Autism Speaks will host an Autism Awareness Night on Wednesday, April 20th with the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. A portion of each ticket purchased for the event benefits the San Diego chapter of Autism Speaks.

"Autism is an epidemic and is one of the fastest-growing developmental disorders in the U.S.," said Suzette Martinez, Executive Director of Autism Speaks Southern California. "We're very proud of the San Diego community, who continues to come together every year to help raise funds for vital programs and services for the estimated 10,000 San Diegans living with autism."
