Salton Sea - $546,570 Meth Seized

Border Patrol agents found more than $546,000 worth of methamphetamine hidden in a car's seat cushions at a checkpoint near the Salton Sea Tuesday March, 1.

At around 10:30 a.m. a drug-sniffing dog alerted to a 33-year-old man driving a 2016 Toyota Avalon, prompting agents to conduct an intensive search.

44 bundles of methamphetamine wrapped in brown tape were found hidden in the car's seat cushions.

The methamphetamine had a combined weight of 60.73 pounds and an estimated street value of $546,570.
