The Borrego Art Institute Pottery Program will offer a new workshop; “How to make unique, decorated and textured, lidded boxes out of clay”. Working with slabs, texture stamps and carving tools, we will have the opportunity to create a vessel using basic hand building ceramic techniques. TUES. WED, MARCH 1 & 2 & TUES. MARCH 15. 10am - 1pm

Some of the earliest historical records of primitive cultures using clay, besides tablets for record keeping, was the manufacture of vessels. Being able to create a container that could keep out critters, and when fired could hold liquids for transport or storage, was a huge leap forward for that culture.

Please join us at The Pottery for a great time, fun people and an opportunity to challenge yourself and make something you will treasure. The instructor will be artist Jack Sims, a Borrego resident.

Clay, tools, glazes and inspiration are provided. Students are asked to bring a pencil, ruler, and scissors for the pattern making portion of the class. Come and enjoy a different kind of boxing
