How lucky we are to have this wonderful Farmers’ Market in the middle of our town every Friday morning. And usually good weather to go with it. The merchants will be coming Fridays ’til noon through the last of April. This week I visited many, but not all. lady and the Chef has the most amazing selection of locally grown and wild mushrooms you’ll ever see. Don’t miss it, at the far end.

Rivas Farms from San Marcos has tables heaped with fresh winter vegetables. Peas, turnips, leeks, spinach, some lovely tomatoes. Johanna’s Bakery has a terrific selection of fresh healthy breads and other delicious baked goods. Jerky Hut has just that. And quite an assortment. So tasty!

Robby’s Fresh Fish is an absolute joy for anyone living in this little desert town. Gorgeous seafood, practically leaping out of the water and into your kitchen! And so good for us. Grouper, red snapper, yellowtail, salmon, tuna, shrimp. The best!

Right across the way is Da-le Ranch, an incredible butcher from Lake Elsinore with farm fresh, USDA inspected meats. No hormones. And you can find them on the internet and place an order that they will bring down for you to pick up. Sausage, eggs, and game – duck, rabbit, quail. Plus beef, pork, lamb, chicken, turkey. Remember to fill up your freezer in April if you live here year ’round. Makes for a delicious, healthy spring and summer courtesy of both vendors. Avocado Tamales & Wicked Salsa in their big festive red tent is one I’m planning to try next week. Order ahead online and they will have your lunch ready.

Julian’s Candied Apple Pastry brings down just-baked pies, breads, cookies, lemon raspberry coffee cake and other fresh baked treats. Our very favorite source – Baba Foods. Tabouli, stuffed grape leaves, every kind of hummus you’ve never heard of. Enjoy! Be well!
