60 Minutes: The Golden Hour for Emergency Medical Attention

Last updated 12/19/2015 at 12:57pm

Thanks to the Borrego Valley Endowment Fund (BVEF), residents and non-residents in Borrego Springs now have an emergency helicopter transport system in place, and folks are signing up fast for the low-cost coverage.

Experienced pilots and flight nurses, along with a modern and reliable aircraft with all the latest medical equipment, ensure that lives are being saved in the 60 minutes or less it takes from receipt of 911 call to landing at an emergency facility outside Borrego Valley.

Plans are being offered from the two transport companies -- REACH and Mercy Air -- plus optional coverage with insurance carriers MASA and OMNI Advantage.

The reps from BVEF and the companies involved held public meetings on Friday and brought out the helicopters and crews to the Borrego airfield for close-up inspection and to answer questions. Full coverage in the December 31st issue of the Borrego Sun print version.
