Borrego Days a Huge Success!

Clairmont Band marches down Palm Canyon Drive Saturday morning.

The Borrego Days Parade flyover was huge; more planes, more variety and different sizes, and flying lower than ever (approved by the FAA, of course). The crowds were huge, too – the largest ever! And more than 100 parade entrants wowed the enthusiastic crowd with great bands, muscle cars, antique cars, horses, trucks (garbage and tow!), and even golf carts!

The parade was a blast for all. We all owe a debt of gratitude to our own Linda Haddock, Chief Parade Honcho of Honchos for Life (and Chamber of Commerce Executive Director in her spare time).

McFarlane Promotions, Inc. should also be singled out for their fine efforts in putting on an even better Festival than last year. Bill Wright, owner of the Springs at Borrego RV Park/Golf Resort and RoadRunner Golf Club said, "It was an extraordinary effort by the people running the festival."

Although it's the participation that counts, trophies were awarded in several categories, including ours for "Best Golf Cart."

"We were not going for big trophies this year in the parade," Linda Haddock told me, "but rather elegant." And elegant they are. Nice touch!
