Concentrations of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) reached 54 parts per billion downwind of the Salton Sea Sunday, causing the South Coast Air Quality Management District to issue an odor alert which will be in effect until midnight Monday Oct. 19.

Light south and south easterly winds are likely to occur at times today, potentially bringing H2S odors to other areas of the Coachella Valley.
