Substitute Teachers Rate Increase

Tuesday Oct. 7 brought good news for certified substitute teachers in the area, as The Desert Sands Unified School District board unanimously voted for an increase in the daily pay from $115 to $135. The long-term rate was also increased from $135 to $155.

The district can call on 80 to 100 substitutes a day. Coachella Valley Unified School District, pays certified substitutes a daily rate of $125 and a long-term rate of $145 while Sea View Elementary and West Shores High School near the Salton Sea, pays a daily rate of $158 and a long-term rate of $178, said Diana Aguilar, substitute clerk for CVUSD.
