Blockbuster star, Leonardo DiCaprio, donated $40,000 to the Pacific Wolf Coalition, which also encapsulates the California Wolf Center in Julian. The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation was funded in 1998 after he starred in the movie Titanic. The 27 environmental causes supported through the foundation, received a total of $15 million, to date.

The California Wolf Center has 24 Rocky Mountain and Mexican Gray Wolves, but only three on display, as the rest may have a fear of humans. These wolves are considered endangered species in California.

Wolves disappeared from the West Coast in the late 1800s and early 1900s. But are now starting to venture to California.

The center's mission is to eradicate the belief that wolves are bad, when in fact they are shy animals.
