Flash Flood Watch

Last updated 9/10/2015 at 11:02am

A flash flood watch remains in effect until Thursday for local mountains, deserts and valleys. Tropical moisture continues across Southern California, bringing possible afternoon and early evening thunderstorms to the mountains which may produce local heavy rainfall and the potential for flash flooding. Areas in and below recently fire-scarred burn areas are susceptible to heavy runoff and debris flows if strong thunderstorms develop nearby.

San Diego County’s mountain and desert areas received a warning for severe thunderstorms on Tuesday afternoon. Winds were also forecasted to reach 60 mph. The strongest storm was predicted to be over Julian, which received hail storms yesterday afternoon.
