A sexually violent predator from Jacumba Hot Springs, was returned Thursday, August. 28, to a state mental hospital after violating the terms of his release. Gary Gene Snavely, 52, a sexually violent predator, had been living under supervision. According to the District Attorney’s Office, Snavely broke the rules by misusing medications, failing to remain appropriately clothed at all times in public view while on his property and failing to report to his treatment providers any and all instances of sexual thoughts and fantasies.

Snavely agreed to return to hospital after admitting the violations with San Diego Superior Court Judge Louis Hanoian issuing the order.

Snavely was a participant in a lengthy rehabilitation program after having completed time in prison. This is the second time that Snavely, a convicted child molester, had been allowed to live under supervision, having been convicted in 1987 of molesting two Orange County girls, between ages 8 and 9, and also of failing to register as a sex offender in San Diego County in 1996.
