Drones Too Close For Comfort

San Diego had 17 reports of drones flying dangerously close to aircraft in the past nine months, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. The FAA says it “wants to send a clear message that operating drones around airplanes and helicopters is dangerous and illegal.” The FAA restricts drones to an altitude of 400 feet and criminal charges can result from disregarding this warning. A proposal to ban drones around wildfires was considered in Sacramento last week. With the passage of this law, fines and possible jail time await those who interfere with first responders.
