Deadly Dog Attack In North Shore

Last updated 9/9/2015 at 9:03am

A man was killed and a woman seriously injured by a dog attack in the North Shore area Tuesday morning. The woman was taken to a local hospital for treatment of major injuries. The two dogs involved appeared to be pit bulls, according to the sheriff’s department. The animals were taken to the Coachella Valley Animal Campus in Thousand Palms for quarantine. A spokesperson from the Riverside County Department of Animal Services, John Welsh, said in the nine years he has worked with animal services, he could only recall three fatal dog attacks. “Owners have to be extra vigilant because something like this can occur. It’s a tragedy and it’s something that’s totally preventable.”
