Friends of Erendyra Fierro and her baby, Javier Salazar, held a carwash in their honor.

In 106-degree weather a group of eight friends held a carwash in honor of Erendyra Fierro and her baby Javier Salazar, who sadly passed away after a horrific car accident on Aug. 20. The heat was not an issue for these friends' determination to help the family that was left behind by Fierro and her baby.

Friends wore shirts with Erendyra and Javier's image.

The workers diligently cleaned thoroughly the outside and inside of the vehicles in return for a generous donation; with all the proceeds going toward the family. By 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29, the stalwart friends, had already lost count of the number of cars washed since they began at 8:00 a.m., but they were sure it was a number higher than 25.

Residents of Borrego Springs showed their support by attending the fundraiser held at Mac's Desert Auto and created a line of cars waiting to be cleaned. Rangers at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park stopped by earlier and left a white envelope presumed to contain a generous amount. A semi-truck also attended the fundraiser and the driver also gave a donation. The donation container featured bills of up to $100.

The community of Borrego Springs has shown compassion and has come together once again for a good cause.
