Wounded Vet Completes Ride Across America

Last updated 8/3/2015 at 10:59am

Toran Gaal successfully concluded his 63-day ride across America on August 2, Sunday morning, when he crossed the finish line at the Iwo Jima Memorial in Arlington Virginia. Gaal travelled 3,800 miles through small towns, big cities, plains, deserts and rocky mountain passes; soaking in the spirit of America. The wounded marine’s goal was to raise $40,000 for the Semper Fi Fund, which helped him in his own recovery after being severely wounded in Afghanistan. Gaal ended up raising $42,000 and finished his journey two days before schedule. He said he didn’t quit for many reasons but mainly because he wanted to be an inspiration for his family. The last stop on Gaal’s amazing journey was the Arlington National Cemetery, where he laid a wreath for the soldiers who never made it home after their journeys ended.
