Imperial Irrigation District Files Antitrust Lawsuit

Last updated 7/20/2015 at 4:23pm

The Imperial Irrigation District recently filed civil litigation against the California Independent System Operator, which controls at least 80 percent of the state’s electric transmission system. Imperial Irrigation district states that CAISO uses its monopoly power to manipulate the import capability values it assigns to IID to create uncertainty in the marketplace and stifle competition. IID General Manager, Kevin Kelley said the Disrict takes “no pleasure in turning to the courts to obtain relief from CAISO’s anti-competitive practices toward the district in doling out access and deliverability to its transmission grid.”
