The city of San Diego has proclaimed July 1 as “Save a Pet Day.” What this means is for the first time, no healthy animals taken to San Diego County shelters will be put to sleep if no one adopts them. The San Diego Humane Society has a behavior center, kitten nursery, campaigns for adoption and the use of foster homes. They say it’s now up to everyone to keep the project going.
