Shane Timothy Sluss, a 27 year-old Oceanside man, was traveling eastbound on Montezuma Grade when his 2002 Harley Davidson crashed into a rocky embankment around noon on Sunday, June 7. According to California Highway Patrol Officer, Kevin Pearlstein, Sluss was throwned off his bike after applying the brake, losing control on a curve while traveling at an unsafe speed, sustaining critical injuries

Several of Shane’s friends were at the scene and began CPR, attempting to revive him, but they were unsuccessful and he died before going for the hospital.

No other vehicles were involved and alcohol or drugs were not a factor. The accident is under investigation.
