SDG&E, Planned Outage - Update

Last updated 5/19/2016 at 10:12am

UPDATE: SDG&E will be performing maintenance and improvements to power lines on Tuesday, May 17, between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Residents were warned that there may be a chance of interruptions to power. The current interruption began at 5.30a.m and is due to continue until around 1p.m.

So it's just a small interruption and residents should barely notice. Roving reporter Yolandi Jooste is currently covering the Borrego Springs Chamber of Commerce meeting. Should anyone have the ability to brew a hot coffee, she would appreciate a cup.

Borrego community spirit is one of the things that make the area so welcoming, if you know of anyone who may need help during the power outage, please take a moment to check on your neighbors.

Good luck out there Borregans.

Both the Borrego substation and parts of the overhead electrical transmission system will need to be taken off grid, resulting in a planned outage throughout the area.

Borrego will be operating on the microgrid, drawing from local Solar photovoltic resources. SDG&E are warning that customers could experience interruptions to power during this time.

Once completed, there may be a brief interruption around 6:00 p.m. in order to restore the system back to the grid.
