Saturday, Nov. 14 saw a successful night for border patrol, as agents discovered a 35 year old male U.S citizen, with nearly 40 pounds of methamphetamine concealed in the fuel tank of a pickup truck with an estimated worth around $397,000.

El Centro Sector border patrol also reported the arrest of three people, including one alleged gang member after discovering approximately 40 pounds of methamphetamine in a pickup truck at the Salton City checkpoint on the same night.

Following an immigration inspection, the 31-year-old driver claimed he was a Mexican citizen in the U.S. illegally prior to the agents determining that he was in fact affiliated with a gang active within California and Mexico, called the Norteños.

A 34 year-old woman and a 21 year-old man, both US citizens and travelling in the car, were arrested on suspicion of human smuggling and booked into the Imperial County jail.
