Northern and Central California are receiving buckets of rain in a storm that forecasters hope will frost the Sierra Nevada Mountain peaks with up to 12 inches of snow. Gusty winds and high waves are making San Diego coastal conditions hazardous as the area is whipped by the tail-end of the storm.

Slight chances of showers, gusty winds and cooler temperatures are expected throughout San Diego County until Wednesday.

Locally, Borrego should remain close to 85 degrees with mostly sunny skies and winds 15-25 mph and gusts to 35 mph in the afternoon. A low temperature tonight is expected to linger around 55 degrees with party cloudy skies and a slight chance of rain and gusts to 40 mph.
